Project for the improvement of substations In Lilongwe city
The Governments of Japan and Malawi signed a Grant Agreement where the Japanese Government, through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is financing a project to rehabilitate and upgrade Kanengo (Lilongwe B) and Old town (Lilongwe A) transmission substations in the Central Region. At Kanengo 132/66/33/11kV substation, several transformers with their attendant switchgear will be replaced by new and higher rated ones and a new 11kV control room will be constructed. At Old town 66/33/11kV substation, a new substation will be constructed with a new control room and switchgear to replace the existing substation.
To increase capacity of Transformers at kanengo and old town substations thereby allowing an increase on customers.
