Malawi Emergency Power Restoration Project
Restoration of the damaged infrastructure affected by Tropical Storm Ana including both transmission (132kV & 66kV) and distribution (33kV, 11kV and 400V lines) networks where a number of power line components have been affected. These include steel towers, wooden poles and structures, transformers, conductors and insulators among others.
The project will help productive and efficient income-generating activities (less time spent on fetching traditional sources of energy and clean water) and enhanced access to information/communication (through phone, radio, television, and so on). The project will also improve quality of public service delivery through both existing connections and increased electricity connections, especially of public facilities such as schools and health centers.
